People enjoy helping their neighbors who are in need for a variety of reasons. As Christians, our reason for helping is much deeper than the personal emotional satisfaction we reap. Here at the Christian Service Center for Central Florida, we serve to honor and glorify our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jesus loved each and every one of us enough to make the ultimate sacrifice – He died on the cross, bearing a punishment he did not deserve so that we would never have to undergo the condemnation that we deserve on account of our sinful hearts. Because of this sacrifice, we each have an opportunity to place our faith and reliance in Him by believing that it is only through Christ that we are truly saved and destined for Heaven.
In John 14:6 Jesus tells us, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father [God] except through Me.”
As followers of Christ, we are commanded to mold our lives after the example He set for us. Jesus Christ served as our model of love, compassion, and service. He denied himself to save our lives – the perfect explanation of love. We at the Christian Service Center serve the community of Central Florida because we desire to follow Christ’s powerful example of compassion for us.
In Colossians 3:12 Jesus tells us, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
The Christian Service Center’s mission is not only a reflection of Christ’s example of love and compassion, but ultimately, service. Matthew 20:28 says, “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Through the Christian Service Center, we use the resources God has blessed us with to be His light to a hurting community.
The Christian Service Center’s mission is to prevent homelessness, combat poverty, cultivate self-sufficiency, restore hope and glorify God through the faithful provision of services that directly address physical, emotional and spiritual needs for families and individuals who are struggling in Central Florida.
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me.” -- Matthew 25:40
