Glenn is our neighbor and longtime guest here at the Christian Service Center. He had been experiencing homelessness for several years and has little to no vision, a barrier that has made it difficult to get into housing or even begin to access services in the first place.
In June 2023, guests at our Parramore campus helped Glenn make his way to our Access Point to see if he qualified for housing. After meeting with some of our case managers, it was determined that because of his disability Glenn would qualify for Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH). Glenn was placed on a waiting list for PSH, and in the meantime we were able to put Glenn in a hotel through the RUSH program (Rapid Unsheltered Survivor Housing).
We are excited to share that Glenn was approved for PSH and on March 6 moved into an apartment of his own. In addition to securing his own housing, Glenn will also be having surgery in a couple of weeks to restore partial eyesight. This surgery can take place because of a program through Lions Clubs of Florida, and with the help of Joel Miller, an outreach worker with the HOPE team who will be driving Glenn to his surgery.
