Church Spotlight: First United Methodist Church of Orlando

Updated: Apr 1, 2022

First United Methodist Church of Orlando is proud to be one of the founding churches of the Christian Service Center (CSC). Recently, First Church has re-engaged with the CSC, with a day of service in February, including a collection of nearly 200 blue bags of food and clothing donated and organized during the service day. We also collected over $1,500 for the purchase of work boots, which will be available for clients as they seek work. First Church plans to have quarterly days of service in support of the CSC and is committed to supporting the extraordinary work done at the Christian Service Center every day.

Senior Pastor Vance Rains serves on the board of directors of the CSC. He has engaged a Serve Team of volunteers to provide outreach to the downtown community. The Serve Team periodically engages with the Christian Service Center, as well as other downtown organizations. We specifically believe God has called First Church to SEEK, LOVE, & SERVE at the urban core of Downtown Orlando.

Thanks to this large group from First Church who helped in a big way on Feb. 5 during our Family Volunteer Day, the first Saturday of each month.

We celebrate the wonderful gift of diversity of our downtown community and world. We affirm that all people are created in the image of God, and all are worthy of God’s love and grace and community. We welcome and affirm the diversity of people of every sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, age, faith history, marital status, physical ability, cognitive ability, socioeconomic status and all who have been marginalized.
